Nursery – Miss Metcalfe

Caterpillars!

In Nursery we welcomed 5 caterpillars: Flower, Rooney, Rodger, Smoothie and Freddie (named by the children). We have been watching them grow and can’t wait for them to transform into butterflies. Some of the children made their own playdough caterpillars and our story of the week was The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Farm Visit

Our Nursery children loved visiting the farm. We fed the lambs, goats and sheep and held rabbits, guinea pigs and chicks. We learnt lots about all of the animals and even had a tractor ride!

Baking

In nursery we love to bake. Some of our youngest children have been learning how to bake cakes. They have been following recipes, measuring, mixing and even helping with the washing up!

Collective Artwork

The children enjoyed creating a piece of art work together. We rolled out the big paper and they enjoyed making marks and adding to the creation. We were so proud of it that it now hangs from our nursery ceiling for all of our visitors to see.

Out & About

The children in Nursery love exploring our local area. We have been on an Autumn walk to look for signs of Autumn. We noticed leaves changing colour, birds eating berries and even spotted a pony and some dogs.

Some of our children went to the shops to buy our snack. We made a list and enjoyed putting the items in the basket. We talked about how we needed to pay at the checkout and helped to pack the shopping into bags.

Settling into Nursery

We welcomed the children back after the summer along with some new faces. We are so proud of how well the children have settled into nursery life, leaving their grown ups confidently and exploring our nursery environment.
