Year 6 – Mr Broadhurst & Mr McNicholl

Rights Respecting Afternoon

In Year 6 this afternoon, we learned about our status as a rights respecting school and found out about the discrimination faced by girls in Afghanistan. We made Malala’s Magic Pencils in reference to Malala Yousafzai who bravely protested against the Taliban. These showed the right of ALL children to have an education, something we believe strongly about in Rosa Street.

Reception Buddies

Year 6 have been very supportive buddies this week. Here are a few pictures of them revisiting their youth while accessing all the lovely resources in reception. They set a fantastic example.

Reception Buddies

As the oldest children in the school, Year 6 have the responsibility of being role models for the younger children. They have been given a buddy in Reception to help them around the school and in the playground.

Living Things

In our Science lesson today, Year 6 were learning about what makes us consider something to be a living thing. There are 4 criteria – it needs to be able to move, grow, reproduce and excrete. We then went out to the playground to see if we could find some examples of living and non-living things.
