Brief details: We have 3 daughters in Rosa St school and I have volunteered in school and taken part in fundraising activities since our eldest started the school. I qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2001 and worked for 8 years with mostly primary school aged children, supporting their language and communication development. This involved a lot of work in a large number of primary schools first in East Yorkshire and then in North London. When we had children I chose to leave work and support my husband in his work and raise our children. However, I still had an interest in and passion for helping schools to be the best they can be. I volunteered to be a governor in order to support the school and to help to give a parents’ perspective on the school’s strengths and areas for improvement. My knowledge of speech and language development and working with children with special needs helps in my monitoring of SEND and early years provision in school.
